The Places Where I’m From

The Places Where I’m From

I am from green grass.
From tiny blades, soft and bright.

I am from the house on Prospect Drive: light brown,
sometimes light-hearted, usually safe.

I’m from the land of the Kalapuya.
From lush valleys, rolling mountains,
and winter/spring rain.

I am from Doug Fir trees: tall, majestic, strong.

I’m from outdoor fun and welcoming arms.
From Doug and Dianna.

I’m from a tendency towards anxiety and too much responsibility.
From you are loved and I would walk over hot coals for you.

I’m from church on Sunday and Bible reading at night.

I’m from Newberg Oregon, Western Europe, Papa Murphy’s pizza, and
berry pie with ice cream.

From Grandpa Chuck, who generously gave of his time, resources and leadership to the community and his family and left us much too early.

I am from Dianna working with international students and often inviting them to stay in our home for holidays and breaks;

The sands of Cannon Beach;
The place where hours and weeks were spent, bonding, sharing, playing, exploring, resting and reflecting.
