Jesus Prayer

Jesus Prayer

“Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me, a sinner.”

This Jesus Prayer is my top go-to practice for centering myself in belovedness. I have used this to direct my attention to God and to remind myself of my place in relationship to the Divine.

I use these words as a breath prayer when I am mediating in quiet.

I use these words when I am anxious and need to steady my nerves.

I use these words when I am out on a run as I way to focus my thoughts on God.

The words morph and change as I pray.

I often start with the phrase of seeking mercy as a sinner but quickly move to acknowledging mercy as a child.

I picture myself in the circle of the Trinity getting to address each member who surrounds me.

Creator God, Maker of heaven and earth, fill me with your love.

Jesus the Christ, Son of the Living God, lead me with your love.

Holy Spirit, Breath of Life, breath your love in me.

These simple prayers settle me and direct me to a poster of ‘open hands’ and they help steady me when life seems like a swirl. They also lead me to praying for others that they too would know the welcome and embrace of Divine love surrounding them, filling them, leading them forward.

  1. Thanks for sharing this. It’s beautiful and I read through it many times as this weeks seems to be a week where its been tough to grasp my belovedness. This was a balm to my soul and I am grateful.

  2. I so appreciate the visual you gave us of sitting in the middle of the Trinity, asking for their blessings. I too join you in praying this prayer now.

  3. Beautiful… I found myself slowing down and very aware of my breathing as I read this. To offer ourselves to Creator God is such a gift. Thank you for this posting.

I join you in praying this right now…
